The Chunky Fall Jacket is knitted back and forth, from the top down. Raglan increases are knitted on the yoke, at the same time as increases along the neckline.
The arm stitches rest on a piece of scrap yarn while the body is being knitted. The body is knitted in stockinette stitch, back and forth.
The work is divided between the two front parts and the back, and the pockets are knitted as extensions of each part. The pocket stitches are then cast off, and the front and back pieces are connected again and knitted further in one piece. The pockets are sewn together at the end, and are secured on the front’s wrong side.
The arms are knitted in the round on a small circular needle, with double-pointed needles, or with the magic loop method.
The arms have a wide fit. The number of stitches is reduced before the cuffs are knitted.
Once the jacket has been knitted, stitches are picked up along the front and around the neckline to create button bands.
